No comparison with Elland Road

Former Leeds United star Matt Kilgallon insists there is simply no comparison between the atmosphere on Elland Road and that of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Leeds faced Antonio Conte’s side in the capital on Sunday night and led 1-0 in the Premier League half-time meeting thanks to a strike from Dan James.

However, Tottenham rallied in the second half and collected all three points thanks to goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon to drop the winners 2-1.

Almost 60,000 crammed into the impressive Tottenham Hotspur stadium, but Kilgallon was disappointed with the atmosphere created by Spurs fans.

He noted how Conte tried to galvanize supporters and insisted there was no comparison to Elland Road, especially since he expected a party atmosphere.

“There is no comparison [between the atmosphere at Elland Road and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium]”, said Kilgallon after the game on BBC Radio Leeds.

“With how strong it is, there is absolutely no [comparison] at all.

“Conte was trying to set the mood.

“You would think that if there was to be a moment when this place bounced around a bit, not everyone could believe how bad it was, but that’s how bad Tottenham were in the first half .

“He threw his arms up in the air, trying to get them to move forward.

“It’s really weird, you would have thought it would be more of a party atmosphere [with it being Conte’s first home league game in charge]. “

Conte remains undefeated as Tottenham boss since taking office earlier this month and the next clash for his side is a Europa Conference League clash against Slovenian side Mura.
