NDLEA, UNODC, MTN Partner Actress, Odetola on Drug Addiction Film ‘Trap’

National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) have teamed up with actress and film producer Jumoke Odetola for the premiere of a film ‘Trap’ in commemoration of World Drug Day.

Speaking to producer Jeyten Productions, Jumoke Odetola described filmmaking as a great tool for mass awareness.

Odetola said the film deals with drug addiction and addiction, rehabilitation, and dealing with relapses.

The multi-award-winning actress said she felt compelled as a filmmaker to use her platform to raise awareness about the impending dangers of drug addiction.

“I understand that some people abuse substances to escape frustration, depression, or unwanted feelings.

“We want them to understand that the relief they get from addiction is temporary, but the effect can last a lifetime.”

“We want drug addicts to know that we are not against them, we love them, the war is not against the victim but against the act because it is not healthy for society, drug abuse and substances fuels crime.The purpose of the film is not to condemn but to redeem.

Jumoke, who recently received an award as one of Nigeria’s 100 Most Influential Young Leaders (PAN AFRICAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD), noted how influential celebrities are and therefore encouraged them to not only shun vice, but also to use their platform to oppose it. .

She applauded Kizz Daniel for using his platform for the cause as it will be remembered that recently the musical artist posted on his Instagram account “To celebrate my birthday, for the sake of the children and for those who really love me , I stopped.

The multi-award winning actress is known for her humanitarian services which include; Girls Community Service, Lagos State SDG Project and not forgetting her memorable speech which caught the attention of UNESCO DG Ms. Audrey Azoulay at UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program .

The event was attended by NDLEA Chairman, General Buba Marwa Rtd, First Lady Representative Dr Rukayya Gurin, UNODC Country Representative Oliver Stolpe, MTN representatives and MDA representatives.
