Hyderabad: A festive atmosphere reigned in the city as Muslims celebrated Eid ul Fitr, the 1st day of the tenth Islamic month of Shawwal marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan.
On the occasion of Eid ul Fitr, prayers were held in mosques and Eidgah (an open ground where Eid prayers usually take place) in the city and outskirts.
Dressed in traditional clothing, men visited mosques and eidgahs and attended prayers. Arrangements for women to attend Eid prayers have also been made at a few places, including mosques in the city.
Congregational prayers are being held after two years as they were suspended due to restrictions on mass gathering due to Covid.
At Mir Alam Eidgah, thousands attended prayers led by Khateeb of Makkah Masjid Maulana Hafeez Rizwan Qureshi. The TS Wakf Board and other government departments have made elaborate arrangements at the site.
Huge gatherings were also seen at Old Eidgah in Madannapet, Qutb Shahi Tombs Eidgah, Masab Tank Hockey Ground, Eidgah Balamrai in Secunderabad and other places.
In Mir Alam Eidgah, senior police officials met people after prayers and conveyed Eid greetings.
After the Eid prayers, people greeted each other and then went to meet their relatives, friends and supporters to express their wishes.
