Reproduction of Unit VI
Chapter 2: Sexual reproduction in flowering plants
Floral structure; development of male and female gametophytes; pollination – types, agents and examples; our breeding devices; pollen-pistil interaction; double fertilization; post-fertilization events – endosperm and embryo development, seed development and fruit formation; special modes – apomixis, parthenocarpy, polyembryony; Importance of seed dispersal and fruit formation.
Chapter 3: Human Reproduction
Male and female reproductive systems; microscopic anatomy of the testicles and ovaries; gametogenesis-spermatogenesis and oogenesis; menstrual cycle; fertilization, development of the embryo until the formation of the blastocyst, implantation; pregnancy and formation of the placenta (elementary idea); parturition (elementary idea); lactation (elementary idea).

Need for reproductive health and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs); birth control – need and methods, contraception and medical termination of pregnancy (MTP); amniocentesis; infertility and assisted reproductive technologies – IVF, ZIFT, GIFT (Elementary idea for general awareness).
