Brand New Long Island Restaurant Offers Unique Flavors and Fun Atmosphere

The owner of a brand new restaurant on Long Island shared his intention to serve unique and delicious dishes in a welcoming and colorful environment.

Zest opened in Suffolk County on Tuesday, November 16 at 298 West Main Street in Bay Shore.

Chef Michael Liebman, the owner, said that since the restaurant opened shortly before Thanksgiving, business was slow at first, but things have picked up.

“Everyone seems to be leaving happy,” he said.

Liebman said he would classify the restaurant’s menu as New American Cuisine, pub-like without the emphasis on alcohol.

He said the point is to take familiar dishes and twist them to give them a new style.

The menu includes artisanal pizzas, such as Thai coconut shrimp and Romano eggplant. There are also artisanal sandwiches and a variety of appetizers.

Liebman said one of the most popular dishes on the menu is the grilled zucchini rollatini, which consists of whipped ricotta, grilled cherry tomatoes, burrata, and blueberry onion relish.

“Almost everyone who bought it said ‘this is something I would never order, but I can’t believe how amazing it is and how well it pairs well’,” said he declared.

He said the smoked bacon-wrapped shrimp were a favorite with customers as well.

As for the restaurant’s future, Liebman said he had “plans on plans,” including expanding the menu and adding specials every few weeks.

He hopes the restaurant will create a fun atmosphere for the guests when they sit down for a meal.

“I decorated the whole place with pop art and bright colors,” he said. “Everything is painted in purple, pink, teal blue. So it’s supposed to be like a bright, happy atmosphere. On the wall it says ‘Live life with zest.'”
